Definition:
The Interlibrary Loan is a process in which
library material, or photocopies of material, is made available
by one library to another upon request.
Purpose:
The purpose of Interlibrary Loan services
is to obtain library materials, not in the Nathan W. Collier
Library collection, for our patrons and to lend materials
from our collection to requesting libraries.
Conditions of Service:
The conditions of these services are based
on the latest editions of the American Library Association
National Interlibrary Loan Code; the Florida Interlibrary
Loan Code; the Southeastern Florida Library Cooperative
Interlibrary Loan Code; U.S. Copyright Law, Title 17, U.S.
Code and by the regulations of the individual lending libraries.
Who may use the Interlibrary Loan?
Any faculty member (Full-Time or Adjunct),
staff members and currently enrolled students of Florida
Memorial University with ID may use the Interlibrary Loan
services.
Items which might not be requested
for are:

Books in the library collection including
those temporarily in use

Reference Books
-
Bound periodicals Volumes
-
Recent, not microfilmed newspapers
-
Materials for class, reserve, or group
use
- Dissertations
- Print materials: videos, tapes, DVDs, CD-ROMs, etc.
- Bulky or fragile items
Interlibrary Loan Costs (ILL):
ILL at Florida Memorial University Library is free. Some other
lending libraries may require you to pay for the service.
However, the library will try its best to get materials free
for you.
Loan Period:
The loan period is determined by the lending library. To renew
the book depends also on the lending library; they may or
may not grant the renewal depending on their policy. Renewals
must be sent to the ILL office prior to the due date.
Delivery Time:
The arrival time may vary depending on the information provided,
the availability of the item, and the location of the lending
library.
Notice of Arrival:
When the material arrives, notice will be sent via: email
and phone calls. The material will be picked up at the Reference
Desk.
