Director's Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Nathan W. Collier Library and the wide range of educational services, resources, programs, and instructional assistance provided by the Library Faculty and Staff. The heart of any academic institution is its Library.  The Nathan W. Collier Library houses a comprehensive collection of books, periodicals, and non-print materials, in support of the academic curriculum at Florida Memorial University. The Library  web-site provides a brief  profile of the services and resources available throughout the library, as well as information on  hours of operation and guides to  assist you in successfully locating and using both print and non-print resources.  One of the Library’s aims is to provide access to any information in any format.  Through its Web-based electronic resources and Interlibrary loan program, students and faculty have access to research materials on a global as well as regional and national level.

You have access to the internet and various web-based electronic resources from terminals in the library or by remote access from any location on the FMU network. At Florida Memorial University, the book stacks and a large number of current periodicals are open and you are free to browse and select the materials you wish to borrow.  Some of our special collections require assistance.

Perhaps our most valuable resource is the dedicated library faculty, staff and student assistants.  Together, they  work to assist students and faculty with their information and research needs.  Among the many useful services they provide are reference assistance, interlibrary loan searches, group and individual instruction. If you are unable to locate materials, or encounter difficulty in using any resource, service or part of the Library, please ask for help from the Library staff.

The Library exists for you.  We strive to ensure that students, faculty, staff, and other members of the University community have the necessary resources and materials for “meeting their information needs” at every level of their educational pursuit.

This is “your library”….. We are here to “Meet your Information Needs.”

On behalf of the University Library Faculty and Staff …
Welcome and Best Wishes for a Successful Library Experience
