of companies. The ABI/Dateline component covers local

Academic Search Elite (Multidisciplinary) – This multi-disciplinary database offers full text for nearly 2,050 scholarly journals, including nearly 1,500 peer-reviewed titles. Covering virtually every area of academic study, Academic Search Elite offers full text information dating as far back as 1985. This database is updated on a daily basis via EBSCOhost.

database is a resource of first resort when you are

and illustrations, for African Americans. From the
famous to the everyday person, AABD includes profiles

Bloomberg Financial Markets – The Bloomberg provides 24-hour, instant, accurate and current financial, economical and political information covering all market sectors. It also provides analytics, historical data (going back approximately twenty years, up-to-the-minute news reports, economic statistics and political commentaries. It also provides access to a wide range of local, state, national and international newspapers. Access is available through the Bloomberg terminals in the Reference Department on the 2nd floor.

virtual library representing 28,968 college catalogs in
full cover-to-cover, original page format with 2-year,
4-year, graduate, professional and international schools.
It also provides additional links page and resource guide

Custom Newspapers (On InfoTrac) – This database provides full-text access to 20 selected national newspapers. It allows keyword, relevance, or advanced searching within the title, citation, abstract or the entire article. A search may be restricted to one publication or multiple publications, or to specific sections, or dates of a publication.
EBSCOhost
(Electronic Journals Service) – Provides
access to full-text of all online journals subscriptions
at Nathan W. Collier Library that are managed by EBSCO. “ARTICLESearch” allows
one to find articles using simple keyword searching
or advanced search techniques. “JOURNALSearch” allows
one to search by journal name, publisher, content description
or International Standard Serial Number (ISSN). The “BROWSE” option
allows users to view Tables of Contents and Abstracts
for the entire catalog of online journals.
Educator's Reference Desk [Formerly Ask Eric] – a personalized Internet-based service that provides education-related information to teacher, librarians, counselors, administrators, educators or anyone interested in education. It has access to all the resources of the entire ERIC system; contains selected educational resources, including lesson plans, info guides, article citations, and much more.
ENCARTA AFRICANA (CD-Rom) – Provides an interactive exploration of the history of African culture from early man’s appearance on the African continent to an explanation of the technology behind making a rap recording. This comprehensive CD-ROM uses articles, photos, dates, maps, and facts to provide in-depth coverage of thousands of subjects. The complete texts of 160 poems, essays, and novels about being of African descent are included. Nine major sections or features of this encyclopedia are as follows: a library of Black America; a history and music timeline; a civil rights chronology; Africana on Camera; historic sites; an interactive map; Africa to the Americas; virtual tours; and topic treks – exploration of specific topics.
ERIC (New ERIC Online System) – Released on September 1, 2004, by the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), sponsored by the Institute of Education Service (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education, this is a centralized ERIC Web-site for searching the ERIC database going back to 1966. Effective October 1, 2004, more than 107,000 full-text non-journal documents (issued 1993-2004), previously available through fee-based services only, will be available for “free.”
ERIC® PlusText – provides extensive and enhanced search capabilities of the ERIC database with “links” to Full-Text documents and journal articles. The ERIC database is the world’s largest source of education information and contains more than 1-million abstracts of education-related documents and journal articles.
Ethnic NewsWatch – Provides news, culture, and history from 200 publications of the ethnic, minority, and native press. It contains nearly 650,000 complete articles dating back to 1990. More than 7,500 articles are added each month. Current and historical topics are easily accessed and are searchable in English and Spanish.

JSTOR (Journal Storage) – JSTOR is a fully searchable database which provides access to full-text articles from over 276 scholarly journals in various academic disciplines, including ecology, economics, education, political science, sociology, African-American studies, and others. The JSTOR archive presents high-resolution page images for viewing and printing articles. It is unique in that complete archives of core scholarly journals have been digitized, starting with the very first issues, many of which were published as far back as the nineteenth century. MLA International Bibliography – The Modern Language Association (MLA) International Bibliography on InfoTrac provides access to more than 1.5 million bibliographic citations to journal articles, books, and dissertations from 1963 to the present in academic disciplines such as: language, literature, folklore, linguistics, literary theory and criticism, and the dramatic arts. MLA Bibliography on InfoTrac incorporates the MLA thesaurus as well as the MLA's Directory of Periodicals.
